Websites Crash Under Massive Demand For Take That 'Progress' Tour Tickets

Ticket websites have crashed under the weight of demand to see Take That perform together as a five-piece for the first time in 16 years.

Tickets for Take That's 2011 UK stadium shows were released to buy at 9.00am this morning and websites including Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Ticketline, The Ticket Factory and our very own Stereoboard all collapsed under the strain of fans rushing to purchase their tickets safely. Police have issued a warning, advising fans to persevere and not buy from unofficial outlets who may be operating as scam sites to steal your personal details for identity theft.

In addition, hundreds of thousands of fans have been queing at venue box offices, waiting on telephone hotlines and refreshing website pages in an effort to see Take That perform on their initial open-air UK dates confirmed for May, June and July 2011 at Sunderland, Manchester, Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, Birmingham and London.

Regarding the huge demand for tickets, a Take That spokesman released a statement urging fans to be persistent. "Due to totally unprecedented demand this morning, all ticket agents have struggled to cope with the number of people logging on to try and buy Take That tickets. The technology available has not been able to keep up with demand. However all ticket agents are confident they will be able to process all enquiries so are asking fans to keep trying."

While The Ticket Factory website issued error messages of “too many concurrent users”, Ticketmaster.co.uk experienced similar difficulties with a message to visitors stating “Service Unavailable”. It has also been reported that Ebay have already seen hundreds of tickets listed at inflated prices.

Venting their anger, fans of Take That took to social networking sites Twitter and Facebook to explain their difficulties. "Why do sites not prepare for mornings like this?" Wrote one frustrated fan. “So annoying! Still no tickets. How long do you keep trying?" Wrote another.

Take That's tour was announced earlier this week at a press conference in London that also saw Gary, Robbie, Mark, Jason and Howard explain some of the details about their 2011 'Progress Tour'. Robbie Williams explained, "There's going to be a bit for everybody. "I'm going to be doing a bit, the lads are going to be doing a bit, then we're all going to be doing a bit." Gary Barlow added: "Some fans might be coming just to see Rob, some fans might be coming to see the four of us, some fans will be coming to see the five of us.”

Last Summer saw Take That play 20 stadium concerts with their 'Circus Tour' being named the biggest ever run of gigs in the UK and Ireland, beating the likes of music giants U2 and Michael Jackson.
