Simon Cowell let a big secret slip on the Xtra Factor this weekend, inadvertently revealing that JLS, Take That and Westlife will all appear on the same episode of the X Factor this month.
When answering viewers questions about his final remaining act, One Direction, the entrepreneur (who is usually known for his acid tongue and quick wit) let the cat out of the bag. Cowell was asked by a viewer how the band are going to make sure they stand out from current boybands like Take That, when he swiftly said: 'We have Take That, Westlife and JLS all performing on the show.'
It was clearly an unexpected response, as presenter Konnie Huq quickly replied: ‘Boyfest! That’s an exclusive! Just repeat that for us.'
Despite the slip, Cowell quickly retained his crystal-cool bravado: ‘probably shouldn’t have said that, I think. Take That said it themselves, they look at One Direction and they see what they were like when they were just starting out. They’ve got that focus and they’ve got that ambition and they are fun and that’s the treat thing about this group. I genuinely, genuinely believe with all my heart that we’re going to see these boys in the final. But, as we’ve learnt tonight, we need votes!'
Take That (including newly rejoined member Robbie Williams) will perform comeback single ‘The Flood’, Westlife will sing their brand new single ‘Safe’, while X Factor runners-up JLS will perform their charity single ‘Love You More’. Although no date has been confirmed so far, sources are suggesting that it will take place on Sunday 14th November.
