Stereoboard’s Weekly Roundup - Take That Tickets, Jingle Bell Ball, Katy Perry

Thursday, 04 November 2010 Written by Rob Sleigh

Welcome to this week’s Stereoboard roundup. Each week, we’ll be taking a look at the bands and artists that you’ve been reading about and buying tickets for over the past few days. We’ll check out each of these acts to find out why they’ve been causing so much excitement and we’ll also give you the news on what else they’ve been up to. Last week’s big hitters were Katy Perry and Kings of Leon. Let’s see who’s been causing havoc with the ticket offices this week.

Take That
No prizes for guessing this week’s most popular touring group. Anyone who has turned the TV or radio on at any point over the past week will know how popular the upcoming Take That tour was before it sold out. The 25-date UK tour, which will include seven (yes, seven) shows at Wembley Stadium, has now been confirmed as the most successful tour in UK history. The five-piece pop act, who were recently reunited with former member Robbie Williams, sold 1.34 million tickets in under 24 hours. The tour doesn’t take place until May next year though so, in the meantime, fans will have to make do with Take That’s new album ‘Progress’ - their first to include Robbie since 1995’s ‘Nobody Else’ - due out on 15th November. Jingle Bell Ball
The gap between first and second in our Top 10 was unusually significant this week. However, the runner-up prize goes to Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball, which is set to take place at London’s O2 Arena in December. The line-up for the two-day event will include Kylie Minogue, Black Eyed Peas, The Script, McFly and a host of others. Click here to Compare & Buy Jingle Bell Ball Tickets at Stereoboard.com.

ImageKaty Perry
Last week’s biggest hitter Katy Perry is still riding high in the box office stakes. The singer may still be on her honeymoon in the Maldives, but both her album ‘Teenage Dream’ and latest single ‘Firework’ have refused to take any leave from the Top 10. Simply Red
Last year, Simply Red’s long-time frontman Mick Hucknall announced that the band would mark their 25th anniversary by calling it a day. However, for any distraught fans, fear not – before they go, Mick and co. will be playing a farewell tour of the UK, which starts next week. It’s proving to be a popular event. Kings of Leon
Well, the Followills have spent a second week at the top of the album charts with their fifth effort ‘Come Around Sundown’ and they’ve just announced yet another huge tour of the UK next June, including two more dates at London’s Hyde Park. It would seem that they can do no wrong. Click here to Compare & Buy Kings of Leon Tickets at Stereoboard.com.

Roger Waters
Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters kicked off his The Wall Tour in Toronto in September and is due to finish next June in Manchester after six dates at London’s O2 Arena. The tour has already been surrounded by more than its fair share of controversy. However, with David Gilmour set to make an appearance during the UK dates, Waters can’t be too concerned. Eric Clapton
Following the release of his 19th album ‘Clapton’, which went straight into the Top 10, the legendary guitarist is set to play a number of UK dates next May, including two with his former Blind Faith partner Steve Winwood at the Royal Albert Hall. Bon Jovi
It’s been a big week for unstoppable US rockers Bon Jovi. First, they were announced as the headliners of next June’s Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park. Then, they made a special guest appearance on the X Factor. And finally, they have just released their newest Greatest Hits album this week, which is already seeing some impressive sales. With a couple more dates added at Manchester and Edinburgh to coincide with the London date, Bon Jovi’s 2011 UK tour looks set to be a big one. Linkin Park
As their latest UK tour gets kicked off, it seems that one of the biggest rock bands in the world are still struggling to keep people away. Click here to Compare & Buy Linkin Park Tickets at Stereoboard.com.

Roxy Music
The release of Bryan Ferry’s new solo album ‘Olympia’, which is currently in the Top 20, along with his recent interview with the Mighty Boosh’s Noel Fielding, seems to have helped boost ticket sales for the upcoming Roxy Music tour, which is due to take place early next year. Usher
Following the release of his hugely successful sixth album ‘Raymond v. Raymond’ and his Number One hit ‘OMG’, R&B singer Usher is continuing to do well in the lead-up to his Jan/Feb UK tour, which includes three dates at London’s O2 Arena. Meat Loaf
The larger than life rocker has decided to take a break from making films for a minute and has instead gone back to his old hobby – music. Earlier this year, Meat Loaf released his 11th album ‘Hang Cool Teddy Bear’, which featured collaborations with guitar legends Brian May and Steve Vai, as well as Jack Black and, even more bizarrely, Hugh Laurie. His latest tour gets kicked off later this month. Click here to Compare & Buy Meat Loaf Tickets at Stereoboard.com.

Lady Gaga
After more than two years since its release, Lady Gaga’s debut album ‘The Fame’ is still sitting comfortably in the Top 20. With a new album ‘Born This Way’ due out next year and two more dates in London coming up in December, the big success story of the past two years isn’t showing any signs of disappearing just yet. The Script
Irish indie-rockers the Script will hit the UK in March to delight fans with music from their recent Number One album ‘Science and Faith’, which is still residing in the Top 20. The album’s second single ‘Nothing’ is due to be released later this month. Click here to Compare & Buy The Script Tickets at Stereoboard.com.

Paramore
US pop-punkers Paramore are due to kick-off their new UK tour next week, just a few days before the release of their latest single ‘Playing God’. After the success of their platinum-selling third album ‘Brand New Eyes’ and their hugely popular shows at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals, the tour looks set to be huge.
