Sheffield Britpop icons Pulp have announced they are to return to the Isle of Wight for a Saturday night headline performance at 2011's Isle of Wight Festival.
Pulp's 2011 return will mark the group's first live performance together since 2002 and so far a series of festival appearances have been announced to celebrate the reunion, including London's Wireless, Spain's Primavera Sound and now Isle of Wight Festival.
Pulp's performance will involve all of the orginal band members, Nick Banks, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior, Mark Webber and, of course, Jarvis Cocker, and they will be playing a set packed full of songs from througout their career.
Isle of Wight Festival will be celebrating it's tenth year in 2011 and event organisers are releasing band names for the bill each day this week. Festvial promoter John Giddings had this to say about the Pulp booking. "When I heard they were reforming, I had to get them, they are the soundtrack of a generation."
Forming in 1978, Pulp garnered a massive cult following before breaking into the mainstream with 1995 anthem 'Common People'. Seven albums were released by Pulp before they announced a hiatus in 2002.
Pulp join the Kings of Leon in headlining 2011's Isle of Wight Festival which takes place from Friday 10th June to Sunday 12th June at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.
