Biffy Clyro And Katy Perry Steal The Show At Radio 1 Teen Awards

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro have added to their success this year by winning a Radio One Teen Award for their trophy cabinet. The trio won the ‘Best Song’ prize for ‘Bubbles’ at the London bash, which took place last night (November 14th).

The band were up against the likes of Muse (‘Neutron Star Collision’) and Cheryl Cole (‘Fight For This Love’) in the annual awards ceremony, but ended up taking the gong home. The band didn’t seem to show too much empathy for their fellow musicians, tweeting during the evening: "Best song at the Radio 1 Teen awards for Bubbles. Sorry, Cheryl."

The awards are a distinct event which joins together the worlds of music, film and enterprise in a celebration of youth achievement. Other winners on the evening included Robert Pattinson (‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Dressed’) and The Inbetweeners (‘Best TV Show’).

Plan B won the only other music prize of the evening, being awarded ‘Best Album’ for his soul-inspired release ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’.

Performers at the awards included the hugely popular Taylor Swift, JLS, The Wanted and Professor Green. Recently-married Katy Perry also performed at the event, keeping true to form by wearing a tight bubblegum-inspired number.

The singer showed her excitement on Twitter just before the event: "Omg the kids are SO loud here @ the Radio 1 Teen Awards. Loudest I think I've ever heard! This is gonna b amazin! #LONDON, #FUNDON (T.swift)"

However, the singer raised a few (young) eyebrows as she broke into tears just before she began a performance of her latest single, ‘Firework’. She said to the crowd: '"I'm allowed to be emotional. Thank you so much for supporting me in this song because it means so much to me."
