Mexicolas Set To Release New Single 'Brakes'

Mexicolas are set to release a new single 'Brakes' (taken from their forthcoming album 'The Minerva Suite' – due for release in early 2011) – the follow up to 2008’s critically acclaimed 'X'.

Mexicolas is multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter Jamie Evans. Although the bands debut was recorded as a three piece Evans moved towards doing everything himself. Not being able to play drums was not a problem – he taught himself… Jamie locked himself away in an abandoned pub in Birmingham – known as 'The Minerva Suite' – replete with practice rooms and recording studio. Two years of hard work later he has emerged with an incredibly assured record – bursting with melody, emotion, and not afraid to embrace rock riffs… An album that makes the critically acclaimed debut pale into insignificance.

From the album opener, the call to arms 'Lullaby' to the first single 'Brakes', from the melodic guitar lines and pop of 'Haphazardly' to the crushing riffs 'Fred Astaire', from the rousing ballad of 'Closer' to the Joy Division-esque intro of 'Take Off'. 'The Minerva Suite' is an album that is beguiling in its depth and variety – the album is packed with melody and instantly memorable rock songs. The album that is sure to set up Jamie Evans in the great tradition of UK songwriters.

The bands debut album, 'X', was released in 2008 to widespread critical acclaim. The album produced the singles 'Shame' and 'Big In Japan' and had tracks placed on the hugely successful EA games 'Burnout Paradise' (formerly 'Burnout 5') and 'UEFA EURO 2008' soccer (both out in 2008).

Mexicolas have established themselves as an accomplished and multi-faceted live act supporting bands such as The Cult and Filter in addition to a host of headline tours in the UK and dates in the USA and Japan. The band is booked by CAA (The Rapture, Florence And The Machine, Kings Of Leon).

'Brakes' is released on the 6th December 2010. 'The Minerva Suite' album will follow in early 2011.
