Justin Bieber Takes On The X Factor

Pop sensation Justin Bieber made his X Factor debut last night, performing in front of a studio audience and over a million television viewers.

The 16-year-old Canadian performed a distinct medley of his smash hits ‘Somebody To Love’ and ‘Baby’, whilst performing an energetic dance routine with a microphone strapped to his cheek. While accusations of miming have been more restrained during the current season of the show, Bieber made no pretences, clearly singing to a distinct and over-bearing backing track.

The singer also made an impression by hitting on judge Cheryl Cole. He greeted the judge after his performance, declaring “I want to say hello to hello Cheryl Cole. Hello” before raising his eyebrows suggestively and making a ‘call me’ sign to the Girls Aloud singer.

Bieber appeared on the Xtra Factor after the show, offering advice to finalists in an interview with Connie Huq. He said: “I think that you should just remember where you came from and always put God first, because without him we wouldn’t be there.” There were also reports that two female fans had fainted outside of the X Factor studios while waiting for the young pop star.

Also appearing on the show were British boyband The Wanted and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who made her British Television debut as a solo artist.

Meanwhile, Bieber revealed the video for his latest single ‘Pray’ yesterday. The video shows Bieber on a number of charitable visit and just generally being nice. While some may find it a bit patronising, a portion of the proceeds from the single are going towards a children’s charity, so that makes it okay (almost). You can view the video for ‘Pray’ below:
