System Of A Down Confirmed For Download Festival 2011 & Ticket Details

After being on hiatus since 2006, the much rumoured System Of A Down have announced they are to reform and play a string of live European shows in 2011. Amongst the reunion shows is the UK's Download Festival.
The news of the reunion was released when a fan on twitter asked them if there is any truth that they would be playing Download Festival next year. The fan was then met with a reply from band bassist Shavo Odadjian saying, “Stay Tuned.”
In addition to the UK's Download Festival, System Of A Down will also play Germany' Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring on June 4th and June 5th. The rockers will also play a headline gig at Milan's Fiera Arena on June 2nd.
Other shows confirmed are at Paris Omnisports de Bercy on June 6th, Switzerland's Greenfield Festival on June 9th and Austria's Novarock on June 13th. The will end their run of June gigs with shows at Berlin's Wuhlheide on June 15th, Gothenburg's Metaldown on June 17th then Finland's Provinssirock on June 19th.
Speaking about the Download Festival announcement, organiser Andy Copping announced that tickets for Donington Park weekend bash will go onsale from Friday 3rd December. “Christmas comes early! Download 2011 early bird tickets on sale 9 a.m. Friday 3rd December 2010. There will be more Download info (on November 29th). Please…any specific questions about bands being announced, ticket prices, RIP, length of time for early birds etc. will be answered November 29.”
The line-up for Download Festival 2011 is expected to be revealed over the coming weeks. Check back to Stereoboard for details as they are announced.
Download takes place on June 10-12 at Donington Park. Early bird tickets for Download are onsale from 9am on Friday 3rd December.
