Dave Grohl has spoken about the upcoming Foo Fighters album, claiming that is it completed and “Massive”, both in terms of scope and sound
Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio One, the Foo Fighters frontman said: “There's 11 songs and front to back there's not one sleepy ballad. It's different to any other Foo Fighters album because it just sounds big. It was really inspiring”
Fans have been quick to speculate about the tone of the Foo’s seventh studio album, but Grohl has left little doubt that the album, which he hinted may be called ‘Back and Forth’, is full of heavy rock songs. He added: "I don't even know what the single is going to be. It's hard to choose because it sounds like there's more than one.''
The follow-up to 2007’s 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' has been produced by Butch Vig, who worked with Grohl on Nirvana’s infamous 1991 hit ‘Nevermind’. Grohl continued to state that the veteran producer has enjoyed working with the Foo Fighters for their latest effort: "Butch swears that he's had more fun making this record than any other record than he's made in his life - that's a lot of records. It was really in my garage: the fact that we did it without any computers [made it] just really simple. It just sounds massive."
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are set to headline next year’s Oxegen festival in Ireland, as well as T in the Park and the Isle of Wight festival. As if that wasn’t enough, the band are also scheduled to play two mammoth arena shows in Milton Keynes next July.
