Ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has managed to purchase the domain name www.noelgallagher.com from a fan – without paying a fortune.
A Spanish Oasis fan had the rights to the URL, which he acquired around ten years ago, until Noel decided he needed the web address for his solo career.
So the Manchester-born rock star had the fan flown over from Barcelona to London, with a free stay in a top hotel, where they thrashed out a deal for the page.
Well, perhaps ‘thrashed out’ was the wrong expression...
The Spanish fan, probably satisfied with meeting his hero and a free stay in London, gave up the address for some signed merchandise and guest list privileges for Noel’s future solo tour. Logically, the fan could have got thousands upon thousands for the domain, but chose sentimental value over monetary value in the haggled deal.
Keep an eye on the website, which currently hosts nothing, for any updates.
