Disney star Demi Lovato has opened up to fans in her first public statement since leaving rehab this January. Lovato released a video to fans yesterday (March 7th), showing the singer in her own home discussing the problems she went through and thanking fans for their support.
The singer cut an American tour short in November as she checked herself into a treatment centre, reportedly suffering from an eating disorder and issues with cutting herself. In the statement, Lovato described the experience as “probably the darkest time in my life”.
She said: "The journey that I've been on has been very, very difficult over the past few months. I was dealing with issues that I know not only girl just my age, but of all ages are dealing with. I hope to one day raise awareness of everything just so I can help people, too, just like you guys helped me through this rough time.
Lovato continued: "I can't tell you how much light you guys brought into my life in probably the darkest time in my life. Without you guys I wouldn't be here today."
It has not yet been announced if the singer will return to her Disney show ‘Sonny With a Chance’, however producers have revealed that the show will change its name to ‘So Random’ for the next series, indicating that the network may be distancing themselves from the teen star.
