For the first time since in 25 years, UK acts hold each of the top 3 positions on the US album charts according to provisional data provided by SoundScan, the official method of tracking sales of music throughout North America.
Londoner Adele is holding onto the top spot of the US Billboard charts for a second week with ‘21’, continuing the success she has had at home recently with sales of 168,000 while Mumford & Sons’ ‘Sigh No More’ also maintains it’s #3 slot for the second straight week with sales of 54,000.
The well known pair sandwich newcomer Marsha Ambrosius who’s debut album ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ has sold 96,000 copies to enter the chart at #2. A Liverpool born singer-songwriter, Ambrosius was previously half of ‘Floetry’, alongside fellow Brit Natalie Stewart, although based in the US. The pairs' debut album ‘Floetic’ peaked at #19 back in 2002 on the Billboard charts with the follow up ‘Flo’Ology’ breaking the top 10 at #7 in 2005 prior to the duo splitting.
Stewart was first to release solo material with ‘The Floacist Presents Floetic Soul’ in November 2010 which charted disappointingly at a high of #95. Ambrosius has featured with several well know artists including The Game, NAS, Busta Rhymes, Jamie Foxx and Michael Jackson and was originally signed to Dr Dre’s ‘Aftermath Entertainment’ label before breaking from them two years ago and signing with ‘J Records’ in December 2009.
‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ by Marsha Ambrosius is available now.
