The Killers' frontman Brandon Flowers has announced a third solo album.
Recorded at the famous RCA Studio A in Nashville alongside producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado, 'THRASHER' finds the singer-songwriter returning to country and Americana influences. Other contributors include guitarist David Rawlings, pedal steel player Bruce Bouton, and 85-year-old Charlie McCoy, who played harmonica on Bob Dylan's Nashville albums 'Blonde On Blonde' and 'Nashville Skyline'.
The album is set for release through Island Records on August 21, with the first single, Plans, out this Friday (June 26). Alongside the announcement, Flowers has shared a cinematic trailer, which finds him explaining his influences:
"The fact that I love new wave and rock and roll has been well-documented. But a life is long enough to allow for more. Walt Whitman said it best, ‘I am large, I contain multitudes.’ Well, I’m larger now than I was 20 years ago, and I’ve unlocked a room that feels like it’s been waiting for me all along: country western music, my father’s music. It has offered itself to me and the stories I have to tell at the moment with a breezy enthusiasm."
The promo concludes with Flowers stating: "This is not me running away from rock and roll. I don’t want to replace my old songs. I simply found room for more."
Flowers' last solo LP came in the form of 2015's 'The Desired Effect', while The Killers put out their latest album, 'Pressure Machine', in 2021, followed by a deluxe edition in 2022. They released the greatest hits compilation 'Rebel Diamonds' in 2023.
In 2024, they returned with the one-off single Bright Lights, which marked the reuinion of all four original band members and served as a celebratory ode to their hometown of Las Vegas ahead of their 'Hot Fuss' 20th anniversary residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Last year, they released the live EP and short film 'Encore At The Garden', capturing their October 2022 concert at New York's Madison Square Garden, where Bruce Springsteen joined the band onstage.
'THRASHER' tracklist:
1. Does It Ever Cross Your Mind?
2. One of Us
3. Tiger’s Blood
4. Plans
5. Paradise
6. Miss America
7. Angel
