Next U2 Album To Be “Futuristic and Sci-Fi”

U2 are currently working on a “futuristic” sounding follow-up to their 2009 effort ‘No Line On The Horizon’. According to RedOne, the producer of the as-of-yet untitled LP, the album will see U2 moving in a new direction and "going Sci-fi".

Speaking to Billboard, RedOne confirmed that he has been working with the hit Irish rock band. He said: “We've put down a few ideas, but we don't know how many will end up on there. They have a very special way of working. A song is never done until the day before it comes out almost, so you never know.”

He continued: “They're always experimenting, so it's not like, 'OK, we're finished.' It's still an ongoing process. Bono described [the album as] 'futuristic'. U2 going sci-fi, or something - That's how he described it, but I don't know.”

RedOne has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, Usher and Jennifer Lopez in the past. He is also currently working on ‘X Factor’ contestant Cher Lloyd’s debut LP.

U2 have given no indication as to when their thirteenth studio album will be released. The band are set to perform a headline set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm.
