Jessie J Slams Drunk Dublin Crowd

Jessie J has raised debate among her legion of followers by criticising a Dublin audience for being drunk while she was performing. The Essex-born singer took to Twitter directly after a performance at the prestigious Trinity College in Dublin, claiming that the show was one of her “hardest gigs to date”.

Speaking on Twitter on Saturday night (April 11th), the ‘Price Tag’ singer said: “Just came off stage at trinity ball. Probably one of the hardest gigs to date. To see so many people so drunk they couldn’t even stand. Girls unconscious and them literally trampling on each other.”

She added: “I’m not upset they weren’t all listening it upset me to see so many young people so not with it. Not used to it. It’s hard to sing when I just wanted to go in the crowd and help all the crying girls being squashed....”

Jessie J took to the social networking site again the following day, looking to clarify her statement and “spread the message” about the dangers of binge drinking. She said: “Can I just clear up that last night was a UNIVERSITY BALL and it was students. I was just shocked at how intoxicated they were and I was genuinely worried for them. I’m not used to it that’s all. And it’s not just in Ireland its everywhere. As a non drinker I just wanna spread the msg that binge drinking is dangerous.”

The series of messages sparked a mixed response from fans. Some appeared supportive of the statements, while others accused Jessie J (real name Jessica Cornish) of being “ungrateful”, claiming that she should be happy just to be performing on stage in the first place.
