Dave Grohl 'Can’t Ever Let The Foo Fighters Go'

Friday, 06 May 2011 Written by James Conlon

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has announced that despite his various successful side-projects, he cannot envision the band ever ending. Since the band was formed in 1995, Grohl has performed as a part of various acts including Them Crooked Vultures, Queens Of The Stone Age and Tenacious D. However, the singer has revealed this week that being a member of the side-projects only makes him want to be more involved when returning to perform with Foo Fighters.

Speaking to Music Week, Grohl said: "I can’t ever let the Foo Fighters go. I can’t not be in this band. Whenever I go to do a side-project it usually re-energises me to come back and do this. Whether it’s doing Vultures or jamming with Paul McCartney, it always makes me want to come back to the Foo Fighters."

The singer went on to assert that he believes Foo Fighters have survived for so long by not being influenced by modern music trends. He said: "We’ve never been too concerned with much outside of our perfect little world. When we close the door and go in and make a record we don’t really think about what’s going on outside of the studio."

Grohl continued: "When a record comes out and it sounds like the Foo Fighters, it sounds like the Foo Fighters because we shut the door behind us when we went in to record. Over the years we have seen some pretty entertaining genres come and go: skinny ties, nu metal and rap metal and we just seem to stroll through it all unknowingly."

Meanwhile, the ‘Everlong’ singer has confessed his love for celebrity sex tapes. Speaking to The Sun today, Grohl said: "Check it out, in the name of rock 'n' roll, go find the Chuck Berry sex tape. It's old so it has a very nice VHS quality to it. None of that night-vision. That one's pretty good."

He continued: "Tommy Lee's goes down as probably the greatest sex tape of all time. Pamela Anderson was acting shy! She's acting like, 'No way! Don't film me!' It was hilarious. Paris Hilton is a close second."
