Gwen Stefani has announced that she will be calling it a day on her solo career in order to focus on her role as vocalist in No Doubt. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the ‘Hollaback Girl’ singer claimed that her solo career was simply “a moment in time”, but said that she would now be committing her creative energies completely to No Doubt.
Speaking to the magazine, Stefani said: "That was a moment in time. It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you're at in that time in your life... [But] everything works out how it should."
No Doubt have been recording their comeback album over the course of 2011, and it is believed that they will be making an announcement this Friday (June 8th) conerning their recent developments. The band have spoken previously about their plans for a “world tour” when their sixth studio album is completed, so hopefully fans waiting to see the live return of Stefani and co. won’t have to hold their breath for too long.
While the band have been fairly tight-lipped about the release, they have hinted that the LP will be “happy” and “upbeat” at it’s core. Speaking on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Stefani spoke about the new album, saying: "The main thing we were trying to do was write really catchy, good songs. There are a lot of upbeat songs. It's generally a pretty happy record."
