Facebook Music Service Uncovered by Hacker?

An internet hacker has claimed through his blog that he has accidentally stumbled upon coding which looks to be Facebook’s proposed new music service – apparently named ‘Facebook Vibes’.

Jeff Rose’s blog showcases a post about him testing Facebook video chat with his mother, and investigating the coding that came with it. While checking it out he came across a string called ‘com.facebook.vibes’, which was prepped to be downloaded in future. He fairly came to the conclusion that this string could be the first sign of the long-awaited music application.

And Facebook’s music project is long-awaited, with reports of a service circulating back to 2008, when MySpace still had a hold on the internet music industry – Facebook were hoping to challenge MySpace’s firm grip by teaming up with Spotify, a move which is so far unconfirmed and looking either top-secret or not-happening. Facebook have, though, successfully teamed up with Skype to deliver a new video chat system where users won’t have to sign in to millions of accounts to use - you’ll soon be able to video chat with all of your friends just by signing into Facebook.

Nothing has been confirmed by Facebook as of yet, but with the coding apparently in design right now, it may not be long until Facebook manages to take hold of another sector of social networking as it becomes the ultimate website – after Stereoboard, of course.
