Matt & Kim Announce New Single ‘Block After Block’ – Watch Video Now

Sunday, 17 July 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

New York-based dance punk duo Matt & Kim are to release their latest single ‘Block After Block’ on 25th July. The track is the latest to be taken from their third album ‘Sidewalks’ and follows previous single ‘Cameras’. Watch the video to ‘Block After Block’ below.

Keyboardist Matt Johnson and drummer Kim Schifino formed the band in 2004 despite the fact that neither of them had ever played their chosen instruments before. Opting to make a very do-it-yourself style of music, the duo released their eponymous debut album in 2006. In 2009, Matt & Kim received the prize for Breakthrough Video at the MTV Video Music Awards for their single ‘Lessons Learned’, which featured the pair stripping naked in Manhattan’s Times Square before being confronted by police.

‘Sidewalks’ was released in November last year and is the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Grand’. It earned the duo their highest chart placing in the US, reaching Number 30 in the Billboard 200 as well as entering the Top 10 of the rock and indie charts. Matt & Kim’s last single ‘Cameras’ reached Number 14 of the iTunes Alternative Chart within the first hour of its release.

Matt & Kim will be supporting Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance on the Honda Civic Tour in the US later this year.
