Ottawa Bluesfest Stage Destroyed by Storm - Link Inside

Veteran American rockers Cheap Trick were left All Shook Up at the Ottawa Bluesfest yesterday – after a freak storm caused the whole stage to collapse. Click the link below to watch the video.

ImageFollowing a successful 12-days of Blues and bands, the Canadian festival suffered a big blow as a huge unexpected gust of wind took down the theatre while Cheap Trick were performing. Death Cab for Cutie were due to play afterwards but obviously the festival was brought to a premature end on its last day.

The band were performing ‘I Want You to Want Me’ when the sky began to turn a horrible grey – you can see in the picture the band posted on their website – when without warning the stage fell, sending the crowd into shock with cries and screams the only thing audible.

Luckily though, nobody died and only a few were injured. One man was taken to hospital with ‘life-threatening injuries’ after he broke his thigh and pelvis and had his stomach pierced - but it was confirmed today that he would be fine, and that his injuries are no longer considered serious. Cheap Trick’s driver was forced to spend the night in hospital but he is believed to have recovered well.

A local reporter said “People started screaming and crying. The stage was a rectangle and it had scaffolding, three, four stories high. The wind caught it and blew it backwards. It collapsed like a big tent. It was kind of unreal.”

Death Cab for Cutie bassist also commented on the events through Twitter, writing "I have never seen wind blow an entire stage flat. I'm in shock." You can see the stage collapse in the link below.
