Bestival 2011 Kicks-Off With Return Of Back To The Phuture Thursday Line-Up

Opening the gates to our vast world of escapist pleasures on Thursday 8th September for the fourth year running, Bestival is now firmly established as a four-day festival of joy and there is some proper mind-blowing entertainment in store for you! Heading Back To The Phuture, organisers and festival-goers can welcome the return of Mark Jones’ timeless electro-fest to kick-off the festival in finest style, mixing up appearances from electro-pop legends with cutting edge synth-lords to set up a glorious weekend in party paradise.

Back To The Phuture kingpin Mark Jones explains: “After last year’s amazing, amazing opening I'm really very excited and proud to be going Back To The Phuture at Bestival once again. This year’s line up shows an incredible link of talent from the nu-discoid stomp of Hercules and Love Affair to the mutant muscle of Blancmange and the inspired  electro soul of Santigold to the sythnfluences of OneTwo and Mirrors. You join the e-(electro)-dots and go Back To The Phuture."

“DJs Arthur Baker and Richard X give us even more to smile about, oh and the fact that this year it’s Rockstars, Popstars and Divas is the icing on the cake for me too! mmmmmmm yum yum  ;)”

Joining the previously announced new wave alternative hip-hop chanteuse Santigold will be New York disco dons Hercules and Love Affair whose critically acclaimed second album ‘Blue Songs’ has seen them become a permanent fixture on dancefloors across the world.

The legends come thick and fast with electro-pop duo Blancmange who will be showcasing their timeless pop classics, including ‘Living On The Ceiling’, ‘Blind Vision’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me’ taken from their four critically acclaimed albums and OneTwo a bonafide super group featuring the dulcet tones of Propaganda’s Claudia Brucken and OMD’s musical genius Paul Humphreys tackling the synths. Taking the synth action right up to date, Brighton’s Mirrors will be dropping their own inimitable take on electronic soul for your delectation.

Ensuring you’ll be dancing though the night there will also be DJ sets from electro godfather Arthur Baker, bootleg pioneer and synthy grunge pop genius Richard X and, of course, the man himself Mark Jones, who will be threading it all together, linking the old school to the new school and heading for the phuture.
