The Who to Tour Quadrophenia in 2012

The Who fans now have something to celebrate – after guitarist Pete Townsend proclaimed he would be rejoining the legendary band to tour their epic Quadrophenia story for one last time.

Roger Daltrey, the only other Who survivor, has been busy touring The Who’s other classic opera ‘Tommy’ on his own for the last couple of months – leaving Who fans wondering whether the remaining duo would ever reunite. But, after an interview with the Guardian, Pete Townsend revealed why he wasn’t on tour with the singer and that they would have a reunion soon.

“The reason I am not on the road with Roger,” said Townsend, “is that this is entirely Roger's adventure, one that is bringing him great joy.

“I don't belong on this Tommy tour. I wish him well, sincerely, and I look forward to playing with Roger again doing Quadrophenia next year.”

Amidst fears that the two would not join each other on stage again, Townsend’s hearing was called into question.

“I'm 66,” he said. “I don't have perfect hearing, and if I listen to loud music or go to gigs I do tend to get tinnitus. But don't we all?”

“If my hearing is going to be a problem, we're not delaying shows – we're finished. But my hearing is actually better than ever. After a feedback scare at the O2 Indigo in December 2008, I am taking good care of it.”

It is expected that The Who’s Quadrophenia tour will commence next year – nothing official is set yet, but Stereoboard will let you know when it is.
