Thirty Seconds To Mars to Release New MTV Unplugged EP

LA rock trio Thirty Seconds To Mars are to release a new MTV Unplugged digital EP on 23rd August to celebrate receiving the most nominations for a rock band at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards the following weekend. The EP will feature acoustic versions of the tracks ‘Hurricane’, ‘Kings & Queens’ and ‘Night of the Hunter’ from their third album ‘This Is War’, as well as a cover of the U2 classic ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’.
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards is to take place in LA on Sunday 28th August, with artists such as Katy Perry, Adele and Kanye West being nominated across the various categories. Thirty Seconds To Mars have received three nominations for the short film to their track ‘Hurricane’.
Speaking about the video, frontman Jared Leto said: “It’s incredibly humbling and exciting to be acknowledged. Especially for a very controversial clip like ‘Hurricane’, that was banned from a lot of networks to start with. It’s great to have it come full-circle and be recognized in this way.”
Thirty Seconds To Mars will be playing the Main Stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals on Friday 26th August (Reading) and Saturday 27th August (Leeds).
