Snow Patrol Have Already Written ‘Fallen Empires’ Follow-Up

Thursday, 08 September 2011 Written by James Conlon

Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody has claimed this week that the band have already written the entirety of their seventh studio LP. The Northern Irish rockers, who still aren’t set to release their sixth album ‘Fallen Empires’ until November, have claimed that they are clearly ahead of the creative curve with their follow-up written already.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Radio 2, frontman Gary Lightbody claimed that they had written the follow-up to ‘Fallen Empires’, going on to describe the upcoming November release as the group’s best album to date.

Speaking to the station, Lightbody said: “We've already written the next album. The last track on 'Fallen Empires' is going to be 'Broken Bottles Form A Star (Prelude)' and that will be the first track on the next album.”

He went on to talk more about upcoming album ‘Fallen Empires’, saying: “It's the longest album we've ever made by far but also the best. We took our time and I also had some bouts of writer's block. It's the first time it's happened for such a long time.”

“I've had days when I haven't been able to write. Since 2009 I've gone through three writer's blocks but I'm glad because the results are great afterwards. They probably made me write better songs.”
