Ed Sheeran Critises Ticket Brokers For Hiking Up Prices

English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has hit out at ticket brokers and sellers that buy dozens of his tickets solely to sell on for a greater price.

The 20 year-old redhead spoke out about the profiteering brokers, requesting they stop using the technique with his gig tickets. The breakthrough artist has been a big figure in Britain’s music scene since his emergence this year and his shows are always in high demand – meaning it’s very easy to make money from selling his tickets on.

“If you buy my tickets just to sell on eBay,” Sheeran said, “then please don't. I have fans who want to actually come and watch me play instead of just making money.

“There are some people who just buy ten tickets at a time and just stick them on eBay for £150. I have fans at gigs that come up to me and are like, ‘I spent £150 to come here tonight.’ I specially put the prices at £10 or £12 because people can actually come instead of paying ridiculous prices.”

Tickets for Ed's current sold out dates are selling for on average £35, with plenty of tickets available for the singer/songwriter's bigger venue shows in the new year.

The current popularity of the in-demand singer means the shows would almost certainly be sold out regardless of whether or not ticket brokers were getting in on the act. At Stereoboard we support the secondary resale industry as it offers more consumer choice and ticket availability - especially for sold out gigs and even more for the majority of events where there is less demand and fans can pick up tickets for less than face value.

Sheeran currently has an October UK tour lined-up, as well as another trip around the country scheduled for January next year. If you want to catch the singer and guitarist live for the cheapest price possible, check the dates and details below.
