Ex-Japan Star David Sylvian Announces First Shows Since 2007

David Sylvian, English singer, musician and composer who first rose to fame as the lead vocalist and main songwriter of the band Japan, has announced his first solo shows since 2007.

Songwriter with '80s band Japan, icon of the art-rock genre, now a successful solo artist, David Sylvian defined his generation and yet continues to innovate in the world of contemporary music.

Japan started out as a confusing hybrid rock/sleaze outfit in the mould of David Bowie and The New York Dolls and evolved after drawing influence from the likes of Roxy Music. Japan's image developed along with their change in musical direction and they were (unwillingly) tagged as the frontrunners of the New Romantic movement.

David Sylvian's solo career has been influenced by a variety of musical styles and genres, including jazz, ambient music and electro and he will play his first shows since 2007 at venues in Manchester, London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Glasgow next March.

David Sylvian UK Tour Dates are as follows:

March 2012

Mar 23rd - Bridgewater Hall Manchester
Mar 24th - Royal Albert Hall London
Mar 26th - Symphony Hall Birmingham
Mar 27th - Nottingham Royal Centre
Mar 28th - Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
