Iron Maiden Frontman In Airline Company Move

Iron Maiden’s plane-flying frontman Bruce Dickinson has told press that he hopes to save the careers of those who work for Astraeus, the Icelandic airline company which collapsed on Monday.

Dickinson was a pilot for the company, which has gone into administration, and was flying the last plane to have flown for Astraeus before they went under. Having flown a number of planes for them, including stints taking Iron Maiden fans to gigs abroad, Bruce now hopes he can start his own airline – creating jobs for those who are now effectively unemployed by the closure.

“I’m amused that the less well informed seem to be portraying me as having to resort to busking on the streets following the closure of Astraeus. The more astute members of my circle are aware there's rather more going on in my world.

“I'm already working on a plan to try to save Astraeus, or at least create a new business with new jobs for my friends and former colleagues at Astraeus. This is a serious plan involving people who are very good at their jobs."

He continued on to mention that although the company idea may not go through, he would still be back in the cockpit soon enough.

“I will be back at the controls of a commercial airliner before I am very much older — but I may also be at the controls of the company that operates that airliner, and others like it.”

He also added that as well as an airline company, he may look at developing a company which trains potential pilots to fly.
