Stone Roses, Bjork and Azealia Banks Confirmed for Norway’s Øya Festival

Wednesday, 07 December 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

The recently-reformed Stone Roses have added yet another European festival to their 2012 reunion dates with a headlining set at next year’s Øya Festival in Oslo, Norway. This is the third Scandinavian festival to confirm the addition of the Manchester group since last week’s announcements by NorthSide Festival in Denmark and Sweden’s Hultsfred Festival.

Øya Festival, which will take place in Oslo’s Medieval Park on 7th – 11th August 2012 for its 14th year, have confirmed that Bjork will also be headlining the event. Other additions to the line-up include American rapper and singer Azealia Banks, who recently topped the NME’s annual Cool List.

The first Øya Festival was held in Oslo in 1999, when it attracted a modest crowd of 1000 people. It has since become one of the biggest events on the Norwegian musical calendar and draws around 60,000 festival goers each year. The 2011 event saw performances from the likes of Pulp, Kanye West, Fleet Foxes and Noah and the Whale.

After being named the Greenest Festival in Europe at last year’s European Festival Awards, Øya Festival has since been nominated for Best Line Up and Best Medium Size Festival at the 2011 ceremony.

Line-up announced so far:

Azealia Banks
Ane Brun
Björk
The Devils Blood
The Good, The Bad And The Zugly
Jonas Alaska
The Stone Roses
Sudan Dudan
Yelawolf
