Red Hot Chili Peppers To Be Inducted Into 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Multi-platinum rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers will be 2012 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which honours legendary artists who have defined rock and roll and have inspired and continue to inspire a generation. To be eligible for nomination, performers must have released their first single or album at least 25 years before the year of nomination.

Formed in Hollywood, California in 1983, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the most flamboyant, successful, and musically influential bands of rock's last 25 years.

Singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak, and drummer Jack Irons met at high-school and combined their love of Jimi Hendrix, '70s R&B, and hardcore punk with sexual exuberance and skateboard culture, immediately becoming famous for their outrageous (often near-naked!) live shows and incendiary jamming.

After Slovak's death in 1988 and other personnel changes, the Chili Peppers - now with guitar prodigy John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith - broke through with 1991's 'BloodSugarSexMagik'.

The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place on Saturday, April 14th, 2012, in Cleveland and premieres on HBO in early May. The 2012 ceremony will again be open to the public. Please visit http://rockhall.com/ for more details.

In other news, following the release of their tenth studio album 'I’m With You' this summer and a sold out UK arena tour earlier this month, US rock icons Red Hot Chili Peppers will return to the UK next June for two massive open-air shows - their only UK dates of 2012. The band confirmed a show at Dublin's Croke Park last week.

Set to occur just weeks before the launch of the 2012 Olympic Games in London these two very special UK shows will be the only opportunity for UK fans to see Red Hot Chili Peppers live in concert in 2012.

Special guests joining Red Hot Chili Peppers at these dates are to be announced in due course.

Red Hot Chili Peppers UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

June 2012

Saturday June 23rd 2012 - Knebworth Park, Stevenage
Sunday June 24th 2012 - Stadium of Light, Sunderland
Tuesday June 26th 2012 - Croke Park, Dublin
