U2's 360° Tour Officially The Highest Grossing Tour Of All Time

Irish rock band U2’s incredible 360° world tour has officially become the biggest grossing tour of all time, it has been revealed today – taking in an absolutely massive $736million.

The super famous band can now actually be considered as one of the biggest and best bands of musical history, filling out stadiums and rocking out hundreds of cities every year. On their 360° world tour they played to audience of over 7milliom people, with an average of 66,000 people at every show.

amazingly, the band may sit on top of the table with almost $1billion dollars made from one tour – but also occupy the 5th, 22nd, 25th and 27th positions, meaning those five tour have a total gross income of almost $2billion. The tour also means that the Rolling Stones, the reigning champions of the highest grossing tour table, moved down a place to second for their Bigger Bang tour of 2005-07, which made them a cool $590million.

“As time moves on and we get further away from it, it actually seems more impressive than when you're actually in the middle of it,” Arthur Fogel, Live Nation Global Touring chairman, admits. “It just leaves a tremendous sense of accomplishment, and is without a doubt one of the greatest experiences in the business that I've ever had.”

He continued: “I don't subscribe to the theory at all that somehow this tour is its own animal. This is what drives our business, this is what gets people excited about going to shows, this is what proves that we are the real deal as an industry. When you can capture the attention and imagination and enjoyment of seven million people, that's what this business is all about.”
