Happy Mondays To Reform With Full Original Line-Up

Manchester rock legends Happy Mondays are set to reform with their original line-up, with tours and festival appearances all in the pipeline for this summer.

The superstars have reformed twice in previous years, the last time being in 2004, but haven’t performed with the original line-up since their break-up in 1993. But today, it’s been revealed that Shaun Ryder will reunite with Gary Whelan, Bez, Mark Day, Paul Davis, X-Factor finalist and backing singer Rowetta Satchell and most importantly, Paul Ryder, who had previously said he would never work with the band again after a split in 2000.

Though no dates or festival appearances have been officially announced, it has been made known that the band are taking bookings and you will definitely be seeing them in venues across the country this summer. They join fellow Manchester rockers The Stone Roses, who’ve also lined-up a reunion tour for the summer months.

A statement to promoters from the band reads: “The rumours are true... Happy Mondays, the seminal Manchester band who changed musical culture forever has reformed and will be available for select live gigs across 2012.”

Frontman Shaun Ryder had teased fans last year about a Happy Mondays reunion, saying: “I won't say which members of the original line-up I've spoken to but there is a lot to look forward to next year.”
