Alternative rockers Garbage have sensationally announced that they’ll be releasing a new album – and it’ll be coming out through their own new record label.
The band, who reformed back in February 2010, had grown sick of greedy record labels, with singer Shirley Manson previously saying: “The corporate people [on our previous label] were bummed out because our last album didn’t go in at #1. #4 wasn't good enough. They just stripped us of all our joy and we ended up turning on each other a bit.”
Now, they’ve given up all hope of releasing the follow-up to 2005's 'Bleed Like Me' through a major label, and have decided it would be best to put out their new material this spring via their own label, Stunvolume.
Writing through Facebook, the band said: “Today we announced the launch of our record label , Stunvolume. We will self-release our upcoming studio album later this spring. We have had our fill of greedy corporate interest. We don't like how they do business. This time we are going to do it our way. Our intention is to make a great record that we have written, recorded and produced as a band. We intend to tell the truth.”
They added via Twitter: “All extra tracks for the deluxe album package off to mastering now. 16 new songs for your listening pleasure coming soon. This is beyond exciting for us. Hope you feel the same way too.”
The new release could see a tour on the horizon too – stay with Stereoboard and we’ll be the first to let you know of any Garbage tour news in the near future.
