Calvin Harris 'UK's Most Successful Songwriter Of 2011'

Scottish singer-songwriter Calvin Harris has been named as the most successful songwriter of 2011, beating the likes of Adele and Lady Gaga.

The star, who also produces dance music, released two tracks of his own, managed to score two #2 hits with some of his own material, and also penned tracks for a number of superstars. He co-wrote Rihanna’s huge single ‘We Found Love’, as well as managing to receive credit for helping write Chris Brown’s single ‘Yeah 3X’ – after complaining that the track sounded too much like his own single ‘I’m Not Alone’.

The chart success Harris saw was enough to pip songwriting threesome The Smeezingtons, who last year wrote tracks for Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and the whole of Bruno Mars’ latest album ‘Doo Wops’ – which saw huge commercial success. Superstar soul singer Adele managed to take third place after the worldwide success of her album ‘21’, while flame-haired guitar genius Ed Sheeran came fourth after exploding onto the scene last year.

Finishing up the top ten were Norwegian songwriters Stargate, who wrote for Rihanna and Wiz Khalifa among others and Ester Dean, who penned for Katy Perry and the Pussycat Dolls in fifth and sixth respectively. Eccentric star Lady Gaga came seventh, Jessie J write Claude Kelly came eighth, and Welsh composer Paul Mealor (who wrote the Military Wives Christmas #1 hit), while Dr Luke, who writes for Ke$ha and Kelly Clarkson, hit #10.

Calvin Harris UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

Fri July 6th 2012 - Pen y Berth, Pwllheli
