Brendan Benson Lines-Up UK And Ireland Tour

The Raconteurs guitarist Brendan Benson will be embarking on a UK and Ireland tour this May, with shows scheduled in London, Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow and Portsmouth.

The 41 year-old singer-songwriter is releasing his fifth solo album ‘What Kind of World’ on April 30th and will tour the UK to coincide with the release, which is his first since 2009’s ‘My Old Familiar Friend’. The record was recorded strictly on analogue equipment at the Welcome to 1979 Studios in Nashville and is released on Benson's Readymade Records in the US and on Lojinx in the UK and Europe. Benson spoke of his choice to self-release the album in the US.

“It's the usual story with me - every album that I've recorded, I've had to find a new label... I just keep getting dropped!” Benson revealed. “I've decided to go it alone. I haven't had much luck working with producers and I think I'm to blame for that.

“I don't mean that I'm a control freak... or maybe I am when it comes to my own thing, I don't know. Working with The Raconteurs would prove that theory wrong – it was very collaborative. I just have more fun doing it on my own, I guess.”

The tour will take him to Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms on May 21st, passing through London’s Scale the next day, and will conclude in the Oran Mor in Glasgow on the 25th. If you’re a fan, you can check the dates and details of the tour below and find yourself a pair of cheapest tickets available.
