White Bone Rattle - When I Return (Single Review)

An aptly named song title for the band hailing from Kent, as they return with a great new track that really showcases the versatility in their sound.

Formed in 2009, White Bone Rattle are made up of two sets of brothers and have impressed with the psychedelic rock featured on their debut EP, 'Far Beyond the Settled Mind'. The EP was made up of tracks, which had the feel of vintage 70’s rock set in the modern day with heavy guitar hooks and relentless harmonies shaping the songs.

New single ‘When I Return’ offers something different, it still has that psychedelic rock feel about it, emphasised by the song’s video, however the slowed pace and softer nature is very impressive. Still shaped by a killer guitar riff, the track ebbs and flows effortlessly as the soothing vocals of Mark Hayfield sit nicely over the track.

The change of approach gives this band another string to add to their promising bow. Play-listed on XFM and with some impressive support slots with Band of Skulls and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club under their belt, the future is looking bright.
