Rage Against The Machine Demand Right Wing Radio Host Never Play Their Song Again

American rockers Rage Against the Machine have hit out at right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh today – after they learned that the conservative, who they consider ‘racist and misogynistic’, had been playing their 1999 single ‘Sleep Now in the Fire’ on his show.

Limbaugh’s show is the most popular radio-based talk show in the US, and is listened to by a large number of people in the country on a regular basis. But, he’s come under fire from Rage, who are notoriously left-wing and anti-corporate America, for playing one of their tracks on his show.

Posting through his official Twitter account, guitarist Tom Morello wrote: “To Rush Limbaugh: Hey Jackass, stop using our music on your racist, misogynist, right wing clown show. Sincerely, Rage Against The Machine.”

A number of bands have previously attempted to stop the host playing their music on his show, including Genesis, whose track ‘Sledgehammer’ was playlisted by Limbaugh, and Rush, who threatened him with legal action should he play their track again.

Limbaugh recently landed himself in controversy after he branded Sandra Fluke, a law student, a ‘slut’ and a ‘prostitute’ because she was advocating the idea of US health insurance companies providing contraception as a standard.
