Professor Green: Recording 'At Your Convenience' Was Like Therapy'

Professor Green has opened up about his personal life and revealed how he is in a much better place following his father’s tragic suicide in 2008.

The star’s recent second album ‘At Your Convenience’, which hit shelves last October, saw Green take on a much more ‘mature’ with his overall sound changing from that of his debut album. Speaking to The Sun, Green has revealed how and why he’s changed as a person and as a musician.

“I wasn't necessarily in the best place but the recording [of ‘At Your Convenience’] was still enjoyable and that helped me through it a lot. Selfish isn't it, using my music to get me out of a shit place? But it has been therapy for me. That is a big part of this second album. There's no changing the past. It's irrelevant whether or not I would change my past and give up this to have my dad back.”

He continued: “I have to look at it as though, 'Yes, I went through shit but I'm able to do something positive off the back of it all', and that is pretty cool. I've not been drinking. If I'm not happy I don't drink because it makes me feel 100 times worse. I know I am up and down, so I have to be really careful with that.”

“What happened with my dad happened to his two brothers as well. I'm pretty sure that's in the genes so I'm really careful. I don't medicate it anymore. I was taking bits and bobs before but now I've started exercising as much I can. I've got back on track.”
