Butch Vig Reveals Garbage 'Didn't Like Experience' Of Signing With Major Record Labels

World famous record producer and drummer Butch Vig has revealed that his band Garbage will be self-releasing their latest record ‘Not Your Kind of People’ on their own label Stunvolume – because they were fed up of the way they were treated by major record companies.

The new album is their first for seven years and the band have decided that instead of teaming-up with a big name label, they’d rather deal with it themselves – and will be putting it out on May 14th. It almost seems like their career is coming full circle, as their first record releases were handled by independent labels in both the UK and America.

Speaking to NME, Butch Vig explained why the band decided to make the switch. “We started out on independent labels both in the UK and in the US and then they ended up getting bought up by bigger corporate labels. In the end, no one from those labels seems to care or know who you are as a band and we just didn't like that experience.”

He continued on to talk about the new album itself: “We wanted to embrace exactly who we are as a band and just make a Garbage record, we like to do what we like to do and we'll do that and not give a shit about what anyone else thinks.”

Garbage will be touring the UK this summer, with the band set to play gigs in London, Glasgow, Manchester and Wolverhampton. If you’re a fan, check the dates and details below and grab yourself a pair of tickets.
