Strangers Announce 'Safe/Pain' Release Date - Listen Now

Electronic pop outfit Strangers have announced that they’ll be releasing new single ‘Safe/Pain’ - their second single of the year - on August 20th.

Following on from April’s ‘Shine On You’ the 3 piece dark synth pop sorcerers, ‘Safe/Pain’ is another euphoric pop song that sees the vocal hook as the main focus, with rising and pounding synths underlying. For frontman David Maddox-Jones, it’s an extremely personal song with a universal message - a song about becoming numb and disconnecting from the emotions of life experience. There’s also an official video - you can check it out below.

Formed in late 2010, and led by former Departure front man David Maddox-Jones, the band released 3 EP’s in last year, and followed it up with debut single ‘Shine On You’ this spring to critical success - picking up plaudits from the likes of Disorder, Artrocker and Music Week.

As well as gaining support from various press, ‘Shine On You’ was added to the Xfm evening playlist after continued championing from specialists DJ’s Mary Anne Hobbs, Eddy Temple-Morris and John Kennedy, and saw Strangers break into Radio 1’s radar with support from Huw Stephens for both the original and remix from Liquid Step wonder kid Draper.

Since a sold out show at London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen for the launch party of ‘Shine On You’, the band have since supported Niki and the Dove on a stretch of UK dates, played with Blancmange at the O2 Academy Islington, and more recently confirmed their biggest gig to date, playing Club NME night at London’s KOKO in August.
