Example Labels Repackaged And Re-Released Albums As 'Disgrace'

English singer-songwriter and rapper Example has once again hit out at money-hungry bands and labels, this time describing repackaged albums as a ‘disgrace’.
Example recently took to press to hit out at the expensive VIP/meet-and-greet packages that seem to be in abundance nowadays, which offer fans the chance to come backstage and have pictures taken with their favourite artists - for hundreds of pounds. Now, Example has set his sights on artists and record companies that insist on re-releasing old albums with a couple of extra tracks for the same price.
“It was mentioned, but I think repackages are just a bad idea,” the star told Digital Spy. “If you're going to put out 14 tracks and then add three new songs and charge your fans for it again, I think that's a disgrace. It means the label's lazy or the artist's lazy. I can understand it from a marketing retail point of view, but that's not what I'm into.”
He continued: “When I make an album, that's the story - I don't want to go back and add more to it later. It's like finishing a painting and then going back and adding another section to it. After we were done with ‘Playing in the Shadows’ it had lived its life and told its story and so it was time to move on to the next one.”
