Mumford And Sons Already Working On New Material

Super-selling folk-rock outfit Mumford & Sons have revealed that they’re already working on some brand new material - despite releasing second album ‘Babel’ just two months ago.

The hard-working London boys hit #1 with ‘Babel’ in September, topping the massive success of their 2009 debut ‘Sigh No More’, which hit #2 - and has since gone 4x and 3x platinum in Britain and America respectively. But, rather than take a rest and bask in their glory, they’ve decided to make a start on new music!

Speaking to NME, banjo player Winston Marshall revealed: “We've started working on new songs, got a rehearsal studio – we're going to do that more often – got a few new tunes out of it. It was great, sounds really cool. They're bones [of songs] but really exciting bones. Sturdy bones.”

Asked by The Guardian about the style of the new material, bassist Ted Dwane said: “It sounds a bit like the National, and a bit like the Band, without doing either of them justice,” as well as saying it was ‘sort of glory-days Elton John.’
