Fleetwood Mac & Rolling Stones Confirm Interest in Headlining Glastonbury Festival

British-American rock icons Fleetwood Mac have claimed that they’d ‘love’ to headline Glastonbury 2013, thoughts which have been echoed by Mick Jagger’s Rolling Stones.

The band have been hard at work in the studio crafting two brand new tracks - and perhaps even a new album - to perform on their world tour next year, which singer Stevie Nicks claims ‘will probably be about 50 American shows... 17 shows about in Australia... and probably 15 shows in Europe’. Now, fuelling rumours that they’re one of Michael Eavis’ Glastonbury 2013 headliners, Nicks has claimed that she band would love to get on the Pyramid Stage next year - especially after watching Beyonce’s set at the last event in 2011.

Speaking to NME, Nicks revealed: “When we were there [in the UK] in 2011, I watched it. I watched Beyoncé and it was pretty amazing. I had just got home from the Hyde Park thing, so I was just home from my own show and I turned on the TV and we had a pretty big screen in the hotel where we were. So I sat and watched like three hours, four hours of it, so would I love to do it? I'd love to do it!”

She also confirmed that there will definitely be a handful of UK gigs next year, saying: “We are coming to the UK. It's on there, the pre-schedule that they start sending out to you. We have basically 50 shows in the United States and then a little break, then It looks like we are coming to England to do, probably like seven or eight shows.”

In regards to Glastonbury, Fleetwood Mac may have some competition from The Rolling Stones - with Keith Richards saying earlier this year: “I don't know [about Glastonbury] yet. That's next year right? I'd love to though.”

Should either band be confirmed for the festival, it’ll guarantee that Glastonbury will return with a bang next year - and there’s always the possibility that they could both headline! Who would you like to see at the festival? Let us know in the comment section below.
