Cooking Vinyl's recently launched rock imprint Double Cross have announced the signing of UK Ragga Metallers Skindred to a new worldwide record deal.
With media already predicting 2013 as the year of heavy rock, the band are currently camped in a Bristol rehearsal studio, writing and recording in preparation for a new album. The new material will be produced by James 'Le Rock' Loughrey (Page & Plant, Flux Pavilion) who worked on the band¹s 2011 album ‘Union Black’.
Benji Webbe from Skindred says on signing: “We are more than buzzed to be joining forces with Cooking Vinyl to release our 5th full length studio album! This is a worldwide deal so we are looking forward to getting the record out everywhere and to tour the World in support of it. Cooking Vinyl have an amazing roster and we are very proud to be a part of it. Looking to the future and the big tings what ah come!!!!”
DoubleCross intend to build on this significant international profile, coordinating a dynamic global campaign for the new album set for release in 2013.
Celebrating the signing, DoubleCross general manager, Phil Hopwood said: "Skindred are a genuinely unique band. They sound like no one else, and it's really exciting to be working with them. We feel there is huge potential for Skindred internationally whilst continuing to develop their UK profile further too.”
Described by Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter as “one of the best live acts Britain has ever produced”, Skindred are a genuine worldwide phenomenon, uniquely blending elements of punk, rock, metal, reggae and electronic music. In 2011 they won Kerrang's much-respected Devotion award, while last year the band picked up Metal Hammer’s coveted Golden God for Best Live Act.
2012 also saw Skindred play to audiences across the world, with a string of high profile festival slots - including Download, Exit and Rock A Parque - along with sold-tours at venues such as London¹s Brixton Academy. The band has sold more than half a million records worldwide during their career to date.NOTE FROM THE EDITOR We don't run any advertising!
