Skindred have shared a third single from their upcoming album.
Opening with lively electro-honky-tonk piano, Can I Get A blends the band's energetic, reggae‑influenced rock with feel‑good vibes, though beneath its upbeat sound is a reflection on childhood poverty. Digging into his past, vocalist Benji Webbe explained:
"It’s me as a child seeing my friends with all these amazing things that people take for granted that I never had. I was eleven years old and was worried what my life would become. A lot of kids where I lived got into trouble and ended up in prison. I was just gonna grab that microphone and see where it would take me.
"I want to empower people to know that you can be what you want to be. Don't spend your life worrying about what you haven't got. Live your life because now is the time."
The track offers a further glimpse into the Jay Rushton-produced 'You Got This', which the MOBO-winning Newport trio teased with the earlier singles This Is The Sound and its title track.
They'll follow the album's April 17 release with a short in-store tour, calling in Kingston, Oxford, Bristol and Sheffield. They'll support Alter Bridge at the Florida Rockers' Blackbird Festival at Cardiff Castle in June, alongside Bush, Florence Black and Cardinal Black, and appear at Radar Festival, Boomtown Fair and Beautiful Days festival in August.
They'll also appear at several major festivals across Europe this summer before their debut headline tour of Australia in September. Tickets are on sale now.
