The Agency Group's Neil Warnock Hits Out At 360 Deals

Neil Warnock - CEO of The Agency Group (not the footy manager!) - has hit out at labels who sign ‘360 degree deals’ with their younger clients, which gives them total control over everything the artist does.

Warnock, who’s worked with the likes of Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, and Michael Jackson, says that ‘no company’ should be allowed to have complete control over anyone - and claimed that the amount of ‘DIY’ artists that are coming through today may even cause labels to be unable to do so.

Speaking to The Independent, Warnock revealed: “It's immoral. No company should own everything that an artist does. The big entertainment companies may even stop recording and will be forced to offer a different menu of services; marketing for one artist, maybe distribution for another, and so on. They can't do it all anymore.”

He went on to praise Sony and XL - the management company behind Adele – for the way they handled the soul singing superstar's incredible success.

“XL and Sony handled Adele brilliantly. They knew what they were doing. If you sell one million CDs, that's the time to spend more on marketing because it's easy to turn one million sales into 10 million.
"Too many record labels are run by accountants who want the money they have spent on artists paid back too quickly – so they pull out too early. It takes seven albums for most artists to develop their potential.”
