Arctic Monkeys To Release Next Album This Year

Award-winning indie-rockers Arctic Monkeys will release their next album this year, according to an interview with drummer Matt Helders.

The band’s have been working on the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Suck It and See’ - their fourth #1 record - in the states, and it seems as though their work on the album is close to completion. It’s so near, in fact, that it will hopefully see a release later this year.

Speaking to NME, Helders was asked what he and the band had been up to in recent times - and he replied: “I have been in the desert… with motorcycles. Not with Josh [Homme], no. The band's just been working together, the band working on our own so far, writing and stuff. There's no time deadlines or anything like that for release. We're just getting back into it, because it always takes awhile to get back into it.”

He was then asked about what the album would sound like - and told the site: “2013.” Responding to the comment, NME asked whether that meant it would definitely see a release this year, and he told them: “Well, we'd be stupid if we made a 2013 album and released it next year.”

As nothing official has been stated yet, it’s still very hard to tell when the album may finally hit shelves - but we expect they’ll be at least performing some new material on the summer festival circuit. There are rumours that they’ll be headlining Glastonbury - where would you like to see them performing? Let us know in the comment box below.
