Swedish Students To Build Robyn Robot

Tuesday, 23 April 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Swedish pop star Robyn always has been a bit of a ‘Fembot’, and she’s about to the take next step in her android life - as a bunch of Swedish students are about to build a live, working robot inspired by her!

A group studying mechatronics at Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology (aka KTH) will be embarking on the mission for The Robot Project, which will see them spending around eight months on the robot - they hope it to be complete in January 2014.

They’ve already been looking at what the robot will look like, what it will say, and what kind of dance moves it’ll do - a video introducing the project has also been created, and you can check it out below.

The KTH website blog will be keeping fans updated on the project - it’s most recent update tells of Robyn’s visit to the institute. It reads:

“What a day! We’re totally overwhelmed. Robyn and her companions Lina Thomsgård and Jonas Erdenberg, came by KTH and we had a chat about the looks and features of the robot. She came up with a lot of awesome ideas. Particularly what the robot should look like, material-wise, and thoughts about different kind of dance moves. Hopefully, we can continue working together during the whole project. Robyn’s input is of great value and will make the robot even better. So, thank you Robyn for spending an afternoon with us. We’re grateful!”
