Singer Bernie Nolan Dies Following Battle With Breast Cancer

Thursday, 04 July 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Actress and singer Bernie Nolan has died after losing a long battle with breast cancer. She was 52.

The former lead vocalist of the Nolans was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. Following chemotherapy and a mastectomy, and receiving the all-clear in 2012, the disease sadly returned months later and spread to her brain, bones, lungs and liver. A spokesperson for her family revealed:

"Bernie passed away peacefully this morning with all of her family around her. The entire family are devastated to have lost beloved Bernie, a wonderful wife, adoring mother and loving sister, she is irreplaceable. They kindly ask people to respect their privacy at this difficult time."

Bernie was born on October 17 1960 and performed within the family group, the Nolans, alongside her five sisters and two brothers.

RIP Bernie Nolan.
