Oasis Back-Catalogue To Hit Spotify 'Very Soon'

Thursday, 04 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Oasis’ back-catalogue is reportedly set to be made available for streaming via Spotify ‘very soon’, according to the band’s management team.

Spotify has seen it’s business explode in the past couple of years, having become one of - if not the - world’s most popular music streaming service. But, there are a handful of big name bands who still don’t allow their music to be listened to on there - up until recently, Pink Floyd’s back-catalogue was unavailable, but following an ‘unlock’ campaign (which saw ‘Wish You Were Here’ streamed 1,000,000 times), it’s been its become streamable.

Oasis were also one of the larger band’s whose music was unavailable on Spotify, but now, John Leahy - from Ignition management - and co-owner Alec McKinlay have revealed that they’re in talks with the company about making Oasis free to stream for users across the globe. They told Music Week:

“It is the case that historically the Oasis catalogue isn't on Spotify in the UK, but we're talking to Spotify at the moment to address that - and it will be addressed very soon. It's purely a matter of timing. If you're working with artists in any part of the industry, you have to engage with fans in the way they want you to.”
