Multi BRIT Award and Grammy winning global superstar, Sir Elton John CBE will be honoured in a special event to be aired on September 13 on ITV.
The BRITs Icon Award will be presented to Sir Elton by Dermot O'Leary during TV special which will include a live performance from Elton of some of his best-loved songs as well as new material from his forthcoming album 'The Diving Board'. The show will also include a candid interview and a special guest appearance, helping to create a spectacular tribute to Elton's journey to become a revered British musical icon.
Sir Elton John's achievements include 35 gold and 25 platinum albums, selling more than 250 million records worldwide and produced the biggest selling single of all time, Candle In The Wind 1997.
Sir Elton John CBE, said: "It's a tremendous honour and a real thrill for me to have my work acknowledged in this way, and I'm really looking forward to participating in what promises to be a very special occasion."

The BRITs Icon Award will become part of the established family of BRIT Awards, and celebrated at a separate stand-alone event each year. It will be presented only to iconic artists whose writing, recording and performances set them apart as having made a lasting impact on the nation’s culture, recognising the very highest level of British music achievement.
